HOME

Masa saya muda remaja trang tang tang dulu saya sukakan minimalist.
Bilik saya di asrama sangat clean, simple dan minimalist. Baju saya tiada pattern begitu juga cadar dan lain lain.
Tapi saya suka mengumpul banyak benda. Saya suka lukisan, saya suka ornaments dan saya suka antik.
Over the years, bila saya dah mula ada duit sendiri, suka mengumpul semakin menjadi jadi khususnya sekarang saya sukakan artwork, antique furniture, buku buku, pinggan mangkuk.
Dari minimalist saya evolve dan terpaksa menerima konsep maximalist. Saya terpaksa memaksa diri saya untuk terima bahawa saya ada terlalu banyak barang dalam rumah.
Banyak sampai dah tak tahu nak letak mana dah.
Sabaq jelah!

TPPs DIARY

and i love bateks ….. i attended a masterclass batek course in London … we were taught by a Jill Kennedy ….
she said to me…. batek chop or block batek is Malaysian n we should preserve it …. whilst the chanting is Indonesean ….
yes we have adopted the chanting , we do beautiful art pieces with the chanting…. n as i mentioned in Tenun Pahang DiRaja, we r not regional in our designs…..
but i have a soft spot for bateks using blocks ….

TPPs DIARY

wearing what i m most comfortable in…. the baju kurung teluk belanga …. i can never go wrong with it.
as a mark of respect for The Sultan of Pahang , who also happens to be my father in law….. i wear baju kurung whenever i seek audience …. the code of dressing when u pay ur respects to royalty, instilled by my parents i think from the moment i started walking !
would i dare in the presence of Sultans n Consorts , wear anything less but a baju kurung …. be it a kebaya or modern/traditional kurung, it must be knee length….
during my wedding in Johor,i wore baju kurung for my istiadat berandam, istiadat khatam quran n istiadat bersiram n upon being recieved in Pahang, i wore songket baju kurung for my istiadat adab adapan …. i felt truly a Malay bride ….
jus look at the late Azah Aziz n her daughter Ungku Zetty Akhtar , the former Governor of Bank Negara ( my aunty) …. they always looked immaculate in their baju kurung …
the late Tengku Ampuan Besar Intan Zaharah of Trengganu only wore baju kurung when she was the Raja Permaisuri Agong … ever so elegant ! my grandmother only wore baju kurung, my mother too n so did Toh Puan Norashikin ….
n my husband, my hero … The Regent of Pahang….. wears baju melayu cekak musang if not long sleeve tenun pahang di raja shirt …when recieving guests, giving audience or attending functions… not forgetting his Songkok ….
we must preserved our traditional costumes …. be it the kebaya or the kurung …. for our future generations … it is our identity ! be proud of it Malaysians !!

TPPs DIARY

sy berjalan2 di Pavilion today….. memakai baju kurong…. ada pulak org tegur, “why are u in baju kurong?” ….. to which i answered ” bcos i am Malay” ……
my question now is ” was i wrongly dressed …. to be shopping in Pavilion wearing baju kurung teluk belanga ,do i need to wear designer or branded clothes to be seen  in an upmarket shopping mall … ”
i am proud of my baju kurong, it is a part of my heritage… a legacy left by my greatgreatgrandfather Sultan Abu Bakar of Johor ….. during his reign, Baju Kurung Teluk Belanga was decreed the official dress for Johor women , it has survived for nearly 200 years !

the intricate tulang belut, ( which is quite similar to the russian herringbone) ….. sewn n hand stitched  …. which is now becoming a dying art , because of the intricacy of the technique , it is becoming difficult to find people who sews handmade fine baju kurung !
unless one champions this, it will die a natural death … thus the need for the revival of baju kurung teluk belanga !
i am proud to be seen wearing it … be it for formal or informal occassions , depending upon the fabric used…. with no padding to enhance the shoulders .
i may wear clothes designed by the renowned  @rizalman ibrahim, but i make sure it is an adaptation of the baju kurung teluk belanga .
through the yrs i have often been ridiculed for wearing baju kurung to functions by many…. i am a strong believer of  KIS ( keep it simple ) n LIB ( less is best) ….. n Dato Rizalman Ibrahim understands me …. being a person of a certain stature n position , i have to adhere to a certain code of dressing !
so long live Baju Kurung Teluk Belanga …. i am very sure my late greatgreatgrandfather would  have been so proud of me for continuing his legacy …
whilst the Indian community still maintains the sari as the daily attire, it is sad to see Chinese hardly wearing the cheongsams these days … i remember a Ms Cheng, my my culinary lecturer who only wore cheongsam to college n the late Mrs Lee Kuan Yew ….. who only Cheongsams !
n jus look at our neighbour across the sea…. the Indonesians proudly wears their national costume to any functions …. all our Asean neighbours maintain their identity via their national costumes!
so we Malaysians, have the kebaya, the kurung, the sari, the cheogsam, the baju kedah, the cekak musang …. should be proud of what we have  which makes us “Truly Malaysia” ….

ITINERARY

Lepas solat korang pergi la mengopi sambil makan kek dekat China House.
Walaupun orang Penang ramai cakap tak suka dah kesitu tapi saya sendiri masih suka kerana line clear ayam gorengnya selalunya masih panas dan juicy. Make sure kuah banjir ok!
Ha sekian untuk malam pertama. Make sure niat puasa dan jangan pulak pergi ushar ‘kupu kupu’ malam dekat area line clear tu. Lepas solat subuh pergi la tidur.
Nanti sambung cerita lagi.

HANTU

Tempat kotor banyak hantu:
Im sorry not sorry but i believe in ghost. Paling takut tentulah hantu pocong dia keep on rolling deeper than Adele orang kata. Hambar.
Okay aku ada satu idea tak lojik but it works since my degree years. Sebab aku bekerja cuti sem, aku duduklah sorang-sorang dekat rumah sewa (sek 7 shah alam depan tasik). Jadi bila malam takdak lain aku fikir, – Hantu.
Swa-naratif (self-narrative?) yang paling takut kalau aku balik kerja malam, aku nampak aku sendiri. Jadi aku memang akan on semua lampu biarlah membazir pun.
Satu hari aku scrub lantai dan dinding rumah. Bila rumah bersih dan terang, entah sebab apa aku rasa tak takut. Mungkin vibe bersih buat aku rasa selamat, dan bila rasa selamat, aku berhenti befiksyen.
Jadi aku sesunguhnya percaya kalau tempat tu bersih, tak ada hantu. Tadi mak aku masuk bilik – tak kotor, cuma bilik semak (sikit) saja. Tempat kotor banyak setan dia kata. Tapi setan kena ikat, aku balas.
Dia keep on, now aku cleaning up the room.
Mungkin sebab tu Maya Angelou book hotel just to write. But what a broke man like me can do, except sponges and soap water?
Baik apa pun, kita harap no ghost tonight!
